Filed under: Uncategorized — whatknot @ 3:35 pm

For numerous reasons we ended up not taking the car in last night, but it will need to go in soon. We’re currently thinking that we’ll take it in October.

Do you like Red or White?

I ran across a great new site today that provides the fantastic list of Wine and Food events calendar, worldwide by city. I just looked up the wine events in our city and there were over 59 different things listed. Each listing goes into detail about the event; it includes the data and time as well as the ability to contact the event organizer. It even has maps to the locations. So of the wine events even allow you to make reservations directly on line.

So no matter where you are going, stop by the LocalWineEvents.com website and check out what things you want to attend, and raise a glass for me. But don’t just take my word for it, read a review by Wine Business Monthly.

Always remember to drink alcohol responsibly.

Hopefully you don’t mind

Filed under: Uncategorized — whatknot @ 3:49 pm

Hopefully you don’t mind the previous post. I know that it is a little on the edge from most of the content on this site. Obviously it is one of those posting that I wrote as part of the PayPerPost blogging service that I belong to, where I get paid to write blog posts. I thought awhile about whether or not I should take this one, but obviously I did. Only time will tell if I made the right choice.

Summer commutes

Filed under: Uncategorized — whatknot @ 3:38 pm

It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over. Most of the kids in our community when back to school today, which means that my short and easy summer commute is now over. With everyone back to the school schedule it will now add an extra 10-15 minutes to evening commute home. I definitely miss summertime.

Choosing a new TV

Filed under: Uncategorized — whatknot @ 3:17 pm

Like most people out there, my TV is at least 6 years old. It’s a 36” regular TV and take up a lot or room. I’ve been following the technology changes over the past couple of years as plasma TVs and LCD TVs have matured. And, while I don’t watch a lot of movies I do enjoy watching all the new shows that are shot in widescreen, and would love a Widescreen TV. In fact I would really love a HDTV home cinema system.

There is so much information out there about all the different types of TVs and home cinema systems that it is hard to know even where to start. Until I found The New TV Guide. It is a great site that goes into detail about the different technology, and pros and cons of each type of TV set. In addition it has recommendations about which sets are good and which manufactures have the best products. Before shopping for your new TV I strongly recommend that you stop by the Television Guide site and look for yourself.

I would pay someone to organize my house

Filed under: Uncategorized — whatknot @ 2:47 pm

While I don’t mind cleaning my house, you know the basics like vacuuming, straightening up, and putting the clothes away, what I really want and would be willing to pay a lot of money for is for someone to come into my house and organize the stuff and get rid of the junk. I’ve watched those TV shows like Clean Sweep and I really want someone to come into my house pull all the junk out from everywhere, get rid the old useless stuff and organize what remained.

Even though the wife and I talk about it regularly we never seem to get around to actually doing. So instead, what I’m doing is Get Paid For Blogging and earning a some spending money so that I can go out and buy more stuff.

All anonymous comments will be deleted

Filed under: Uncategorized — whatknot @ 2:23 pm

I got a comment on the site last night that I have chosen to delete. It was not spam, but someone commenting on one of my posts. The person left their name as anonymous and a bogus email. I will ignore and delete all comments of this type in the future. If you have something to say, then be man/woman enough to leave your name and a valid email address. While I make no guarantee to respond to every comment, I will at least try.

Write a Post, Earn Some Cash

Filed under: Uncategorized — whatknot @ 10:50 am

I ran across a post today on Digg titled PayPerPost: The Consumer Generated Advertising Revolution Has Begun that address the some of the sides that are being expressed in the new CGM world. PerPerPost allows you to make money blogging. Advertiser pay to have bloggers write articles with links back to their sites. PPP has gotten some negative press, and people are screaming that it is cluttering up the Internet and making searching results less relevant.

I tend to disagree. Having been on the Internet since 1987, this is nothing new. It is just free enterprise. People using technology to make money. I say great. In fact this may be a way for smaller companies to improve their marketing without spending tons of money. If paid posts can help generate a buzz for a product/service/idea that can possible carry over to other sites. Great.

Full disclosure requires that I state that I am a revolutionary, a PayPerPost blogger.

New way to exercise

Filed under: Uncategorized — whatknot @ 4:10 pm

While looking for some additional ways to exercise I ran across a site talking about boxing as a good way to in shape. I’ve never been a fan of watching boxing on TV, but I’ve always enjoyed trying to use a punching bag. Looking a little further I came across a place to purchase boxing gloves inexpensively. They have a wide selection including a number of different boxing gloves from Everlast. They also have gloves for kick boxing too and other boxing items to support all your needs.

Now I don’t know if I will ever take up the sport, but it certainly appears to be a cheap way to get some good exercise. If you’ve purchased from the site or into boxing as form of fitness, leave me a comment and let me know some more about it.

The Precipice

Filed under: Uncategorized — whatknot @ 3:54 pm

It has been quite a while since I have read (or listened to) a Ben Bova book. I just finished listening to the unabridged version of The Precipice. This version was read by multiple readers and was throughly enjoyable. While the characters in the books were fairly stereotypical, they all combined to tell a good story. The conniving and intrigue were predictable, but that didn’t detract from the over experience.

One of the interesting aspects of the books is the destruction caused by the “Greenhouse Cliff”. The theory is that as the world progress and as we continue to ignore global warming we reach a “cliff” after which the world’s climate and ecosystem deteriorate precipitously to the point where it threatens the entire human race. This poses the question, “Is the ‘Greenhouse Cliff’ fiction, or fact?” 3.5 of 5 stars

Lunch

Filed under: Uncategorized — whatknot @ 3:39 pm

The wife packed me a lunch today, thanks dear. PB&J, lettuce wraps, orange, plus a few other things. Nice and healthy. The only problem is that somebody in my group also brought in donuts, and I have no will power. Oh well.
